Mr. Wright’s Industrial Arts Education Class

I am now a retired Shop Teacher - who loved teaching Junior High Industrial Arts multiple activity class. (Multiple activity means groups of 4 or 5 students work in one area for a few weeks, and rotate from area to area through the year.) This is a multiple-activity class where students rotate through “shops” to develop transferable and essential skills when completing hands-on projects and tasks.

The following has been created after I retired and includes new areas and different projects and is intended to inspire future students and teachers to learn about the practical arts.

The framework below includes the many ideas that will be developed to support future multiple-activity class or makerspace learning. If you are interested in a specific project or area not yet posted on-line, please contact us using the Contact Form and we will provide additional information.

General Safety - at the start of the year

The year begins with general shop safety. After the initial safety learning, then each shop (area) starts with Safety and then moves to Making, and finally the student Sharing their project.

Each Shop: Safety —> Making —> Sharing

Individual Shops

Each area of the Industrial Arts Education Class is divided into stand-alone ‘shops’. Each shop has specific projects that can be completed with the tools, equipment, and materials in that shop. Also, the provincial CTF learning outcomes have been matched to each shop, so the students are learning the prescribed curriculum.
